Our First Christmas At Home

After many wonderful years of sleeping at our parent's house for Christmas, we've decided that we are ready to be our own little family and stay home for Christmas Eve. I was a little nervous that it would be boring or sad, but we ended up loving it. Although we did miss our traditional extended family events, our little evening was so sweet. Having a new baby at Christmas made the idea of a baby Jesus even more real to our family. Events included a talent show (complete with nutcracker ballet performances), a live nativity scene, and opening up new p.j.s for the girls (thanks grandma and grandpa!). We were even lucky to have Jake's mom with us to celebrate. And after all the presents were opened and a huge mess was in our living room, we hurried and drove to visit Grandma and Grandpa Shaw before the big snow storm arrived. What a great Christmas!

As usual, Sophie was the last one at the table after dinner...licking every last drop of her dessert.
Could there be anything better that peppermint ice cream with hot fudge? I'm always so sad when they take it off the shelves in January.
